Bread-making attempt!

Have been putting off doing this till I told myself not to be lazy! Decided to do it today! Hubby had ordered Luncheon meat bread. He will only be able to eat it after he knocked off later.

Checked with MIL what ingredients was lacking at home to make the bread. Went to buy yeast and bacon yesterday night. We spoke vividly about the types of bread last night. She wanted to make coconut buns. I told her we could make kueh dar-dar with the coconut as well. Felt it was cool man! She will fry the coconut and I can make the kueh's skin. hehe... teamwork!

After kneading the flour, yeast, salt, sugar, egg, milk, water and butter. Must let the dough rise to double its size. So during that one hour or so, I prepare the luncheon meat, egg mayo, etc. As I use luncheon meat or bacon for the bread filling, I decided to do some egg mayo so that Minah can eat cos all are pork. Veri thoughtful yah? =P

After the dough has risen to double its size, I cut out portions of doughs and let it rise for another 10mins.

Finally, time to add the fillings! This one is bacon + egg mayo. This one is purely egg mayo... I did 3 of this for Minah. keke... decided to put a "din xiang" on top of the bread to differentiate this. I didn't put any pic of luncheon meat. After putting in fillings of the 14 breads, gotta let it rise again for 15 mins... Alot of waiting time for bread to rise man! Finally, I could glaze it with egg and put it into the oven. This is my 1st batch of bread... 2nd BIL was very excited when it was done cos he was the one who announced it! I was still eating my lunch then. He went to check my bread for me automatically! Then said,"Kailing, think your bread is ready! It's brown in colour liao." I was so excited too and went to see immediately. not badz... I quickly take a plate and he took one bacon and egg out. He cut open and became my food taster together with MIL. That one, I think I stretched the dough too thin cos I wanna wrap the fillings. Some parts were abit crispy crispy. But still, they commented," Not bad".

FIL came by and I said,"You can have bread for your tea-time later. cos usually he has it at 4pm." He took one luncheon meat bun right away. And finished it and that was right after lunch. Comments:"Nice. Not bad"

Minah ate hers at a later time and told me,"It's nice."

This is my 2nd and final batch of breads.

Although it took me the whole morning till noon to finish the entire bread making process, the joy of seeing family members enjoying it really brought home a sense of satisfaction. I had fun too. Doing everything by myself and seeing that everything turned out well gave me a sense of achievement! =) I'm thinking of putting herbs next time into the bread liaoz. hee... Waiting for hubby to come home and try later...

Recipe for the bread can be found here: http://quickneasytreats.blogspot.com/2005/07/assorted-sweet-bun.html))

One tip: For the water, use 50% milk and 50%water. I used 3/4 of the portion in the recipe and generated 14 buns. So you can proportion it according to the number of buns you want.

Finally it's the weekend

Finally the weekendz is HERE! Gosh... On Thurs, I tot it was Friday. And to wake up feeling that way isn't a good way to begin the day. So I'm getting excited that TGIF and the weekend is right here right now. So I'm gonna cherish every moment of it. How? For example, by blogging instead of going straight to bed? does this counts? to express my frenzied feelings to simply express how happy I am that it's D Weekend. Ok, I'm getting abit cranky here now. haha...

Had a busy busy week at work. The intern attached to me is here this week. I only knew about it last Thurs and took it up then. So this week is kinda busy doing the new process flow, hosting meetings to run through with my team members, so on and so forth. Busy but feeling great nonetheless! My team members are excellent and I could feel our synergy getting on. =)

*my mind is suddenly blank. maybe I'm too shagged. don noe what to write*
Erm... Ok, feeling blissed with my life right now. This feeling evoked as I see my dog licking his paws on his beloved sofa aka bed and my hubby sleeping tightly as well right now. It just makes me happy. Erm... and me doing this post at my desk which I liked alot (although I wished my desk is neater.) Suddenly I just feel God is good to me! (at this moment perhaps? haha) feeling very contented right now.

I will stop here for now before I blabber on any further and bore you guys!
But it's really good to sit down and count our blessings each day, doesn't it? Do not ever take things for granted. Cherish your loved ones, be it your friends, families, pets with all your heart!

What goes around comes around!

Muackz to all my girl friends, my hubby (oops... about to type hubbies! =P), families, relatives and everyone reading this. Love you All!

Have a great weekend ahead!

Mum's Place on Fire

I dropped hubby off this morning for work and was about to leave for my mum's place when she called me and said that their bathroom was on fire yesterday night! had a shock man.She told me that no water supply. The water pipe in the kitchen had burst too so the water tap was turned off....Luckily, no one was hurt. anyway, I was about to leave for Yishun to visit them.

My dad got the plumber to fix things. It was about 4plus when everything was settled. gosh! Finally! I whacked 3BIG 2 SMALL on my unit # but alas, didn't open lei. keke... There have been alot of fire incidents these days in SG. Even today while driving hubby home after his work, we saw a few fire engines rushing to save fires somewhere. I really hope that this fire episode would end soon. The 1st incident of the brother and sister who had perished in the fire is devastating enough. PLS STOP!

I enjoyed myself at home today. Read Sunday Times till I slept. for about half an hour or so. can't remember. then I went to eat my favourite "mee hoon kuay" with my dad. yummy! I ordered a large bowl! slurpy... chatted with him as we ate. told him that it's difficult to have a meal with him. hee... cos his job is on "hi-key" these days with the IRs coming up. Construction industry is in the BOOM man.

Came home and chatted with my bro and his gf. sang abit of karaoke. chat with my mum. I like this where I get to engage my family members.

*Hooked on Steamboat*

halloz! long time didn't have time to sit down to blog. =P

Back from my steamboat bbq steamboat with hubby. Usually when I go for Gelare waffle at ECP, I will get a whiff of the bbq food at the "Hooked on Steamboat" and last week, I told hubby we must go try the bbq today!

Finally here we were today. The food spread isn't very varied but at least I see the item quality were not bad. The prawns are medium size. Sliced sotong, chicken. We cooked seafood koka noodles to load abit of carbo. then it's bbq chicken, fish, prawns and sotong! 3 scoops of ice-cream for our desserts. I prefer this to those bbq steamboat buffet at Marina Bay. Think this will be the spot for my steamboat bbq craving in future. hehe...

Very relaxing there as well... =)

Sometimes I think women just like to spend money. haha... I don't have the "buying clothes" desire recently. But yesterday, when I saw the lingerie at Blush having great sales. Aww.... couldn't resist it and bought a camisole and nightgown total at $28. Original price: $110. That's 75% off! Anyway, I didn't do the maths then, I just knew it was a good buy. And it was something I wanted to get too but couldn't find something I like. There's just too many things that a woman can spend on. Manicure, pedicure, spa, shoes, bags, lingerie, accessories, facials, books, cds, toiletries, haircut... the list is endless. haha...

Countdown:

>> 3 more days before Minah is back! need that so that my wkend will continue to be wkend. I feel that I sound spoilt but really arh, I think here cannot survive without maid. place too big. keke... tomorrow will be full blasting ironing, I think.

>> 2 more weeks to hubby finishing his RT! grrrl... takes so long to end!

Update update....

Been wanted to update bloggie for some time but too lazy. keke...

Just received a call from my colleague in China where our project is starting to run. Gosh! Supplier A sent in an old revision part. and SupplierA 2 other parts were still left in SG! Oh my god! Shit... think this build is going to be delayed. haiz... this is the 1st time such things happened. Parts come in a day or two late. but wrong parts and parts missing from shipment. tsk! Anyway, nothing I can do also. I pity my colleagues in Suzhou who are unable to proceed with the build now. =(

Hmm... it's long weekend these days. trying to rest as much as possible. but somehow can't seem to nap in the afternoon. buzzling mind... And Minah went back to Indonesia so must try to help out around. But this time round not as bad as last round. At least my brother-in-law's maid will come and help in the afternoon. Thank god! Appreciate having a maid at home.

Bought 3 books at one shot 2 Fridays ago. Cos it's 3 for the price of 2 (selected titles).
