Trip to school

Went down to SIM to use my credit card to pay my sister's fees for the coming semester. I guessed everyone was like me trying to beat the GST hike. Took a queue number and almost fainted when I saw that there were 300+ pple in front of me! What to do? For my sis's sake and to help her save $60, hubby and I endured the waiting. haha...

We went explore the Popular bookshop and the cafeterie there. Hmm... I felt really great to be surrounded by books in the bookstore. Wanted to buy some pens. In the end, I bought a book on Personal Financial Planning as well. Imaginging myself as a student and buying books. dream... How I wished I can study again. Anyway, surrounded by lotsa youngsters at the SIM makes me feel young. It's not the same feeling I get when I go to Far East.

We had too much time and I actually need to go to DBS bank. Thank god that's one at Bukit Timah Sherwood Tower. Popped by.

Had my lunch at SIM foodcourt. The grilled fish is really nice! Not to mention cheap... $3.50! hah.. life is good man. easily contented yah?

I was enjoying myself although had to wait for 3hours plus to pay the bloody school fees!!! I was looking through their brochures there to see if I can go study anything. haha....

Great trip.... =P

Thoughts....

I had just moderated Jenn's comments in my bloggie. Burst out laughing loud for her comments in my last Post... Sweet & Cold! hard to imagine what she's feeling man. =P Can't wait to meet up with her to catch up.

Feeling emotional right now. Don't know why. it's a feeling like anything can make me cry. weird...

Last Thurs, hubby went KL and stayed overnight. I went back to my mum's place for dinner. Came home, showered and was resting on the bed. watched 2 episodes of Sex & the City before I decided to sleep. Strangely, I felt extremely sad that he's not by my side. To the point that I feel like crying but didn't la. And the thought of him going to China for a week in mid-July makes me super-duper sad. the KL stay is very frequent. yet I don't even understand why I would feel that sad... C'mon, I should have gotten used to it! It's weird!

I was reading Friday's Straits Times and felt very sad when I read that farms in a certain province of China fed their pigs with 20kg wastewater before selling them off. Heavier = More $$$. The pic showed a brown pig with 2 hoses stuck into his mouth. Its corner of the mouth was like bleeding somemore.... my eyes watered when I read that. How could they be so cruel. Honestly speaking, it's best NOT to buy food manufactured in China.

He.... (impromptu)

love him for his devotions...
for always letting me decide what we shall eat (most of the time)...

he doesn't need to comb his hair and I already adore him to death
secretly looking at him while he drives.
wondering why his eyes are so small... hehe. yet still look so charismatic to me
can't take my eyes off him

i don't mind let him "bully" me for the rest of our lives
hanging around together is very enjoyable & fun
i'm willing to be his little woman. bringing his fav fruit orange to him after the dinner.

his temper has changed for the better
although he is still super duper pessimistic! this i cannot deny nor change
that's in his genes, i think.

no matter what, i will love n cherish u.
hopefully this will at least brighten up ur pessimistic world.

Lurve,
ur wife

1st Visit to the Botak Jones @ Toa Payoh

http://www.botakjones.com/
This week has been a foodie week for me ya? Cakes, botak jones, corduroy and not forgetting Ba Zhang aka dumplings. Phew!
After seeing so much of Botak Jones in our tiny island here. Serving restaurant food at kopitiam prices. And angmoh selling it. Hubby and I went in search for it. actually it was much initiatied by him. hee...
We went to Toa Payoh North last night for our late dinner. cos ate lotsa dumpling in the afternoon. When we reached there, we felt it looked cool! At one end, there's a bar selling beers and what-nots. To the left, there's a pool table and diners playing. It was windy and the food center was very spacious.
Went there wanting to order their Cajun chicken and Fish & Chips. So disappointed that there F&C were sold out. So we just ordered the chicken and a side order of bbq chicken wings.
No angmoh serving us. but I think the gal was a eurasian. haha... at least a half angmoh. I bet the real Jones is too busy with the expansion to be at the helm of the action. gosh! they have it at alot of places now. depot rd, clementi, pioneer sector. It's those pretty ulu ulu places. so if you are driving there, do the navigation first. =)
The Cajun chicken is juicy and tender! And the meat is really thick! It's really like one of those restaurant types where you need a sharp knife to slice it. Allan love their coleslaw cos there's absolutely NO oNions in it. The fries were so-so. I like these thick fries but didn't really taste anything special with that "red" powder that they sprinkle on it.
Too busy eating to take pics of the bbq chicken wings. Out of 3 that we ordered, 1 was "charred" or overcooked. Hubby had to peel off the blackened skin. But the other 2 were delicious, in my opinions.
SO! We are going to try their Fish and Chips soon!
Overall, I feel that it's worth the price!
Stay tuned for my F&C post. Till then.....
Me waiting happily for my food.

This is the tomato, chilli and mustard sauce in which the staff will place on your table after we have placed our orders.

Finally. Tada! The Cajun chicken. There's the melted cheese and Cajun sauce on top of the grilled chicken. The chicken is really big in real life. haha...

Corduroy Cafe - milk bar.bakery

This is one great cafe that I must recommend to you! It is a great place for you to hang out with your loved ones or friends gathering. Once inside the cafe, you are transported to another place. The ambience, wallpaper, chandelier lights... hmmm... you gotta be there to experience it. As for the food, let the pics speak for itself. It's a pity that we were too full to order any dessert. they looked yummy delicious and pretty to boot. oh... I must go there for dessert soon.

Michelle, Eddie (our IA student) and me went for our lunch last Thurs. Time flew past us over there. Argh! lunch time is too short. haha...
This is the "anti-pasta" meal. There are a palatte of side orders in which you omit 2. The rest will be served to u in small portions. The potato, sauteed mushrooms, grilled portabello mushroom is yummy. This tomato with cheese is also part of the "anti-pasta" meal. This is their club sandwich. There's chicken breast, bacon at the lower half. Upper half is tomato, lettuce, cheese.... classic club sandwich. This is their seafood penne. The special thing was there's fried minced garlic in it. So it's crunchy. Ingredients were mussels and scallops. These are their mango and strawberry smoothies. Most yummy ones I have drank so far. It's very smooth and not too sweet.
Here's Michelle and EddieHere's Mich and me.
Lastly, here's me and Eddie.

HaIrCut @ X-pect Studio

Finally getting a haircut after 9 months. hehe...
Met Jennifer while at the Salon.
That's Jenn with her new look! straight bangs. looks cute! And me before my haircut which is right after her. cos I'm getting her stylist too..... Desaree from X'pect Studio at Orchard Emerald. She's a Creative Leading Stylist so be prepared to pay more for her services.
This is me. Chopped off those dry ends. I enjoyed the haircut! She's very pro. And I like my new hairstyle. Find it quite versatile. Desaree will advise and check if you are comfortable with certain style before she does it. And she doesn't push u to do any extras. like colouring or treatment. more pics to be uploaded later..... THIS IS ESPECIALLY UPLOADED 1st FOR MY DEAR JENN! =)

Advanced B-Day gift fm hubby

Had a tiring Saturday last week. It was around 7plus when we finally came home for dinner after being busy since early in the morning. Rested awhile and hubby asked me if I wanted to go Paragon. Cos I told him a few days ago there was Gucci sales going on... info courtesy of my sista. hee...

Very tired at that point in time (esp after dinner). but I couldn't just let my weekend slip away like that. Especially Eve of hubby's birthday. We need to get out and have a break! Reached Paragon at 8.45pm. chiong there straight away. Didn't manage to see a bag that I like. However, saw this wallet. This is his super-advance birthday gift for me. keke...
I didn't buy this colour. Bought a beige/ebony (dark brown) which I think is easier to maintain. This one will have to clean every fortnight, I think.

What caught my eye when I looked across was actually this thing! The french flap!

After that, we went to Mustafa area for our Indian food fix! We ordered a garlic naan (for him), plain naan (for me), masala chicken and tried dosai (our 1st time). it was delicious. yummy. very satisfying. We love North Indian food....

Going to buy Nokia N73 for his pressie. He likes the design. Due to the contract thing, I can only get the phone 2 months later. Argh! Anyway, a self-made card fm me and me singing birthday song to him made his day! =)

Busy but Happy Long Holidays

While cleaning up our new house, I started realised how big a 4A flat would be. Scrubbing and wiping everywhere. Argh! Tiring but satisfied nonetheless. I am lapping up layers and layers of hand moisturiser each night to soothe my hands.
Hubby had realised one thing about himself during our spring-cleaning. He is a Cleanliness Freak. At times, he cannot tahan me when I do the cleaning. Imagine us trying to pick fight during house-cleaning? It hasn't been easy. haha... Each has got their own way of doing things. And his theory of "Compromise is not a solution" doesn't really impress me.
Anyway, the cleaning is officially done with. The entire place is finally spick and span. We were there from late morning till evening cleaning up each day. The final touch ended with Hubby mopping the whole place yesterday while I went out with my mum and sis. Here comes an example of Irony: I wanted to mop the whole flat in the afternoon and he said,"Do you think you need to do so? Don't you think that the floor is OK, not sticky wat?" I felt that my feet would feel better if I did. Anyway, in order not to quarrel with him over mopping the flat and saving my energy as well, I compromised and "Ok, if u feel the floor is ok, then I don't mop."
While outside, I messaged him asking him if he had gone home and his reply,"Mopping the floor." I feel like banging my head against the wall. Don't know to laugh or cry. MEN ARE UNPREDICTABLE CREATURES Too!!! Anyway, thank God it's over. We are like 2 house-proud owners. I wanted to video the house but lent it to MIL who went to Vietnam and China and will be back on 7-june. So the pics u r seeing these days are taken with my O2.
We had tenants would-be coming in today to view our flat. The 1st group was recommended by our neighbour there, Rosalyn. They are Filippino nurses who works in the NKF nearby. They wanted all 3 bedrooms and the price and stuff wasn't suited to each other's expectations. So keep in view.

The 2nd was brought in by Arthur (our housing agent). It was an Indian expatriate family. Couple and 3 daughters who wanted to look around for a place near their daughter's school. Ours is within walking distance to that. Allan and I quite like them. They loved our place and made an offer within 15mins of viewing. Their offer was quite good and we thought they would make good tenants. So we deal! Their daughers were very sweet. Kept saying, "bye bye" to me for umpteen times even when the lift door was closing. Kids just make your day sometimes!

I have trouble remembering their names so I better jot down now. Husband: Hema. Wife: Shuba. Eldest daughter: Bugi. These are the short forms, mind you. Not their full name. I could never ever pronounce their full name. They have just been in Singapore for a week. I think it would be quite fun getting to know them. and helping them to familiarise with Singapore and our way of life here. The husband is working in Barclays, IT side. Wife is full-time mummy. They didn't need us to provide any furnishing except for dining table, fridge and a washing machine which we all had. Gotta move our sofa out of the way though. Who needs 2nd-hand sofa, pls tell me! Barclay sponsored them (4 containers) to shift whatever they want from India to Singapore. So they got their own beds, wardrobes, sofa, TV, vacuum cleaner(S$3000+), microwave shifted here. Think Hema is very well-paid... keke...

So things are more or less settled. They are gonna shift in on 15-June. Hubby and I need to apply for TV license, telephone line. Next, waiting for my fridge, bedroom furniture to come in. And the electrician on Tues.

OuR Dinning Area. Newly hanged-up cat picture which looks quite cute. Feels that it gives the house a homely feeling.ThE KitChen Cabinets which were scrubbed clean and shiny! ReaDy for Use....ThE PoT of Money Plants that Hubby placed on top of the KiTchen CounterTop to give it a lively feel. We placed a sMall One in the Living Room Coffee-Table.CeleBrated with Hubby after signing the Deal with a late lunch at Thai Express at 4pm. Super hungry by then.

This pic is taken a few days back. Our favourite furnishing piece of the whole house. The table is really SoLid! Look at the carvings on the table legs and chair legs.

Long weekend is over soon! Looking forward to next occassion! Hubby's Birthday next Sunday....

Happy 5 Years' Anniversary!

Quite often, we let our anniversary bypass us without a word. Today on our way home, I recalled tonight is our 5 years' anniversay. The day we became an item. hmm... sweet sweet memories flooded my mind. We were in Fort Canning... strolling. it was around 1plus, i think. young pple really can stay up late. haha

Told him about it. guys usually don't get too excited about such things. or is it due to his stomach not feeling too well? I think combination of both.

To me, 5 years is a great deal. Just feel so. somehow I always lose count which year did we start.

Do you n ur spouse celebrate anniversary of being an item? Or even to mention that it's been XXX years since being together?

There are simply too many dates to remember yah? Now already got ROM, wedding, birthdays of us, of his parents, my parents. What else? Our Chinese birthdays... hehe...

Anyway, HAPPY 5 YEARS ANNIVERSARY. lotsa love honey! We have got our own house today! What a coincidence++ Let's Celebrate!

Back from GSS.. Midnight Shopping Madness!

On leave today. Completed the 2nd appt. So the house is finally ours! Went to clean again today. More or less done (with Minah's help). =)

Read in Papers this morning that Raffles City SC is having sales till Midnight. We went there from 8plus till 11plus. I bought a couple of stuff that I felt were great buys! feels very shiok! haha... how I wish this was the "standard operating hours" for shopping center. Life would be so great! I think hubby will *faint*. Poor baby... accompanying me walking around. midway his stomach is not feeling too well. Robinsons came up with hourly lucky draw where 3 winners will walk away with $500 shopping vouchers. Shucks! didn't win although we have got 2 entries. Retail therapy works wonder!

Am having difficulty finding a pair of well-made pants that suits me. Find one pair at G2000 and after 30% + additional 10% discount, it's only $35! felt so happy and relieved cos I have been looking for a black colour pants for quite a while. I feel everyone needs a pair of well-suited pants... it's the "must-have jeans" for office wear. Sent in for their free alteration.

Next, I went JWest which has up to 70% screaming outside the shop. The shoes usually cost $100plus. Went in and found a pair of sandals that caught my eyes as the foot sole and inner lining is made with genuine lambskin. Original price: $130. 70% off and additional 10% off, it cost around $35! Comfortable and casual and I like the wraparound the ankle. Grab man!!! Good buy, I feel. keke... Think MIL is going to shake head when she knows I bought 2 pairs of shoes within this 1 week (while she's not around). She doesn't call me "Imelda Marcos" for nothing. haha

My facial moisturiser has been used up. Looked around and found a good deal at Elizabeth Arden. Must share with you gals there. Their Perpetual Moisture 24 Cream cost $78 by itself. They are having a special set which consist of the cream I mentioned just now + Perpetual Moisture 24 Eye Cream (7ml), Good Night Sleep Restoring Cream (7ml) and Overnight Success Skin Renewal Serum (4.7ml. The set cost $78! Remember to ask for samples. They are generous with that!)
Just wanna share my great buys with you gals. So gals, what are you waiting for? =P
