CAROLYN LEOW 24.09.06

It's the 1st day after the customary marriage. Just a sudden thought came across my mind. We have bride-to-be before the wedding, you become a bride on the actual day itself. What is the term after we get married? After a few seconds of pondering, I guess there isn't any. But in Singapore context, I guess you are called Auntie! So it's Bride-to-be => Bride => Auntie.

I had a tiring but very enjoyable day yesterday. I think it's the one and only day where the entire attention is on me and Allan. Hmm... I guess I was totally happy with the way my make-up artist made me up! My eyes look so BIG & lively. hehe... I didn't take any shot of myself personally. I will check out my photographer when we are back from Taiwan. Can't wait to see our pics then!

My jie-meis did a wonderful job by making things fun in a meaningful way. After Allan surrendered all his ang-pows to the jie-meis which he did very promptly (hmm...very guai), he was able to come into the house but not into the room yet. Then Q&A session time. I was pretty sure that he didn't know which year I started wearing contact lenses and also my primary school name. But he managed to answer that which totally amazed me! The most amazing thing was when he sang a song! Wa pian, I was speechless. But guess what he sang. "Lao shu ai da mi" Mouse loves cheese. Woahaha... and he was singing it very loud. So sporting. I was still so worried the past few days about what will happen before he could come in. It was all unnecessary man.

There are lotsa and lotsa of memories from yesterday! I'm really glad that everything turned out well. Oh ya, we were really nervous before the 1st and 2nd march in. Especially the 2nd march in cos we know we gonna give a speech. And our yum seng buddies, my cousins and their hb Ah Wee, Guoan, Eric, my brother, my eldest BIL Ah Hua. They did a wonderful job. At one point in time, I thought my hb was shouting too but I was thinking cannot be lah. He's pretty anti-yum seng guy and want to cancel the yum-seng session but I insist so he bo pian. After everything ended, he told me he had a sore throat. I was still thinking what heaty food he had. Then he replied," Think it's the shouting that I did during the yum seng." haha... UNEXPECTED.

Allan kept me going through out the day. That was so important cos I was very tired physically after the morning event. And I could really see the sparkle in his eyes the entire day yesterday and today. He was in a totally relaxed mood after everything was completed. I had not seen him so relaxed and relieved for a long time! Darling, you need a break man. I'm so glad that we are going for our honeymoon straight tomorrow! Gonna pack tonight.

I'm now married into his family. Got so many more family members.... Besides Jia Gong, Jia Po, there's Da-Ge, Da-Sao, Er-Ge. And hopefully Er-sao by next year! =P

For those who have helped me in some way or another, I would like to express my warmest BIG THANKS to U!!! Muack!

Cheers!

Bride-to-Be...23-Sep-06

Today is the last night where I am still a Bride-to-be.

Excited. Was lying on my bed doing mask just now. Listening to the radio which is a favourite hobby when I'm at home. Suddenly at that instant, felt a tinge of nostalgic sadness.

LOOK Forward! I'm going to be a BRIDE tomorrow! That one day where I will be the center of attention.

I shall rest early tonight.

See u!

2 More Days to GO!

Suddenly "final countdown" comes to my mind. 2 More Days to go... feeling up-beat and excited.

I was just starting to fall asleep last night when suddenly I felt very hot. Realised the air-con was off. Tot my sister did it and I tried to on it. nothing happened. tested my lights. again, darkness still lingered. then i woke my dad up as there's a power trip. He checked our circuit box but there wasn't any fault there. Then we realised the whole block power failure. It was hot, dark and stuffy. sian... so i open my window and let the breeze come in. half asleep while waiting for the power to come back. =)

Slept till 9am this morning! Felt fabulous! Haven't slept in for such a long time liao... Gonna sleep in tomorrow too. yeah! My panda eyes... hope it will go away by Sunday!

I was looking through my wedding mini photo album just now. I'm glad that our photo album package turns out well. The gowns and pictures... =) All the headache selection process was worth it.

Going to do my manicure tomorrow. Later going to Allan house to pack abit more stuff. hehe...

It's going to rain BIG later. Sian....

Counting Down...6 More Days to AD!

Time flies in the twinkle of the eye.
6 more days to go only! Sometimes I just can't believe that I'm going to get married this Sunday. It's like the whole month was just whizzing by.

Another busy weekend has gone by, as usual. Went to collect my gowns on Sat. We finally bought our Recliner armchair yesterday. On leave today to wait for their delivery. After a bad experience with the TV console, it's best to really see that the armchair is being delivered here as what we have ordered.

After hanging up the gowns in my room yesterday, felt kinda sentimental. The feeling of leaving my home and living my life in another place with Allan. Of course, I'm thrilled at the thought of being able to sleep beside him each night. But moving from a place where I have been staying for the past 21 years to his place.hmm... I guess it's a transition period that most brides go through. Suddenly, I just wondered will I shed tears on that day. I hope not. Don't wanna smudge my makeup. My throat will get choked up for sure. I'm a pretty emotional creature.

I must gear myself ready for this transition. Of course, I will still go home to visit my parents. Not sure if it's weird if I wanna go home to sleep for 1 night once in a while. Think it should not be a problem with Allan. We will see how it goes. Whether I will get home-sick or not. haha...

Anyway, I'm looking forward to our marriage! I am praying hard that my Taiwan trip will not be dampen by the "Anti-Bian" campaign! Heard that they are gathering people for revolution to start on early Oct. I will be back on 30-Sep so hopefully, nothing happens to us.

Actually, we don't wanna buy travel insurance. Upon seeing this, don't buy also cannot. =P

Going for facial later... after sending my little niece to school with FIL.

Yeahie! My motto for the next few days => RELAX and SLEEP EARLY!

He...

He lays down there on the sofa sleeping soundly like a baby, a gentle creature. He sleeps side-ways, head resting on the sofa or rest his head against the cushion. At times, his legs are facing upwards. That's the few of the various sleeping positions that he has. I find it rather cute. I know I'm supposed to use "IT" to describe animals as what we had learned in primary school. But if you have your own pet, you would never bear to use IT. IT would be replaced by he or she.

Xiaobai has brought us lots of joy and laughters although he might be a little terror at times. And I really have to yell at him to discipline him. Or else, he risk getting his butt smacked. In the house, he usually follows us about 85% of his time. The 15% goes to his feeding time, sun-tanning time, etc. His greatest desire is to be able to go out as often as possible. When weekends are here, he would be HOPING that we will bring him out too when we go for exercise in the morning. He would start barking loudly when we are putting on our shoes.

The kind of welcome that he greets you with... running all the way from I dunno where once he hears your voice and reaches up to your knees and simply wants your attention to sayang him. You just feels really important to him. But I know that he has waited a whole day just to see me. =)

Sometimes he reminds me of ourselves. On weekday especially Monday, he would have greaet difficulty waking up too. Usually, he would ONLY get up when we are leaving the room and gonna set off for work. Then he will send us to the door. That was a particular Monday whereby he didn't even budge when we left the room. Gosh, he's having such a good life!

We love him to bits (not sure if this is the right word, I wanna mean love him ALOT). When I see him extremely happy especially when he's out in nature enjoying himself, that's the greatest joy that I feel too!

p.s: he was really cute laying on the sofa. wanna take pics and post it but had lent 2nd BIL our camera.

Have a wonderful day!

Time is whizzling by...

I went to Plaza Sing just now to shop around for lingerie and wedding shoes! Pretty headache to shop for wedding shoes alone! There were URS, Charles & Keith, DMK, Bata, Everbest. Saw 1 pair at URS but the colour was out of stock! I'm beginning to be a fan of URS. Their design is getting better and I felt their quality of shoes is better than C&K. Saw 1 pair at DMK which was kinda similar to the URS pair, but again no size for the white colour pair. Argh! The salesgirl recommended me another pair of shoes which is really nice for wedding gown but it's abt 2 inches high. I'm looking for something that is not too high.... cos I want to be "dainty" bride and not the towering bride. haha.... I guess I will drag Allan along with me for shoe-shopping this wkend.

Lots of tasks to do this wkend. Need to go to the restaurant tomorrow night to see their script and test our montage. Got to pick up my gowns on Sat and meet sharon & terence on sun! And Allan needs to get his tie too.... And prepare our speeches. the details.... I wanna faint but we need to GGJY!!!

At PS, I realised that there were quite some weird people there. Is it my problem or ? I don't know how to put it but people whom you would not expect to see in town. hehe....

Stay tuned for my next update!

2 more weeks to go!

I almost lost track of time and that we are about 2 weeks away from our Big Day. Getting nervous again and it's been a tiring wkend last week. Feel exhausted. Think I need to take one day leave to go for facial and spa!!! To relax and recharge. Allan worse, no leave to take. So he's even more drained. haiz... heartache to see him so drained too.

Tomorrow is the Guo Da Li. So basically we are left with Sunday for the weekend. We have not packed our clothes and barang barang to our new room yet. need to do so before the wedding day. I will take my own sweet time to pack and move over. Cos we are given such a short time to move!

It's Furniture Move-In Day!

Today, the bed, study desk and dressing table are coming in. So took a day's leave to ensure things are OK.

Quite tired to type much now. Did some tedious work which I shall not go into.

Here is Xiaobai who is wandering around with me. He just had a hair-cut and is botak now.

After furniture moves in, here's how it looks.

Yong He => The food is lousy!

I have been very undisciplined lately. Always going out for supper. I suggested to go Yong He(@ Geylang) for soya beancurd, etc. On one condition, Allan will be driving. I will NEVER go to Yong He if I am driving. It's takes ages to find a space to park and the traffic is horrible!!!

And we were so lucky that a driver was just leaving a parallel parking slot right in front of Yong He. I think if Allan bought 4D yesterday, he would strike it. Unbelievable that we were able to find a lot so good so fast. We haven't been there for a year plus. And I'm totally disappointed in their food. The soya bean drink was quite dilute. The "you tiao" wasn't hot. And the "shao bing with egg and pork floss" was too dry. I was eating and coughing at the same time. Imagine how bad it was.

I guess I won't patronise that shop again. But when I go Taiwan, I will definitely go and eat their soya beancurd etc and see whether it would be nicer than the one in Singapore.

We will be going Taipei for our honeymoon right after our wedding! Looking forward to the shopping and eating. And I gotta practice yoga, go jogging and swimming to lose my weight then. Haha...

Waiting for my dressing table to arrive. Bed, mattress and study desks are here. Will try to upload some pics later!

Cheers!

Wedding Preparations

Finally, I have the time and patience to sit down and ponder about the process of getting married.

There are so many parties involved in marriage preparations so it's not that easy, especially during the initial stage. There's us, the couple, my parents, my parent-in-laws.

Initial part was abit tough. But I told myself to delegate, delegate, delegate. So, those customary stuff, I leave it to my MIL and mum. But there would be minor conflicts here and there. So I have to play the role of middle-woman. As for the two of us, there were some conflicts during the inital part too. And I start to realise why some people say, some couple break-up during wedding preparations. There are so many decisions to be made during this period. So listening, understanding and compromising is Very Important.

As things move along, we start to get the hang of communicating about different expectations and coming to a consensus after discussion. It's amazing that such a process actually brings us closer. For me, I start to take each obstacle as a task. And we will discuss about it, reason it out with one another and come to a conclusion which we felt would be the best option for us. There's a sense of achievement as a couplehood. It's all about teamwork, isn't it? We each play the leader role at certain point and tell the other party what are the roles & expectations.

Felt more and more in love as we go along. Although I feel that he is less kan chiong. He doesn't even realise next week is our Guo Da Li. Faintz!!!* Someone once told me, during wedding preparations, the wife just need to delegate tasks to the husbands and he will complete it. Haha... Quite true!

I will miss all these wedding preparations after it's over. We will then move on to the next chapter of our lives. Where we are staying together and truly as Husband & Wife.

The D-Day! Busie...

Has been feeling lethargic these days. Think haven't had enough sleep for the past few weeks... :(

Anyway, I am feeling really upbeat cos it's now ACTION TIME!!! To paint and decorate our room... Tada! Here's a pic of our room. It's not totally complete yet. Still got the corny and ceiling to be done today.

Tomorrow, the furniture will be coming in. I will take a day's leave to see to the furniture installation. I will try to sleep in tomorrow (if possible, haha)...

Went to People Park's complex to try and book our trip to Korea. Unfortunately, there isn't any guaranteed departure date that so we are thinking of either Taipei or those beach resort like Bali.... But most probably, it will be Taipei. Cos our favourite past-time is to go makan and shopping! haha...

Here's a pic of Tiffany and Allan which I took just now. You can see, she really enjoys playing with the PC. =)
