Went down to SLS today to shop around for Beau's gift with him as his birthday is approaching soon. From SLS, I realised that Spore is really a cosmopolitian city.
I saw Sony's latest MP3 player and went over to kaypoh & check it out. The sales assistant said," Xiao-jie, this is Sony's latest MP-san. liu4-ji2." I was stunned for a moment, re-composed myself and said,"Oh, this is a 6GB MP3 player." He was explaining the item as if I was a Chinese national! I almost fainted. After we left, I quickly asked hubby,"Do I look like a Chinese now? Is it my hair? (cos I pinned my fringe and tied my hair up due to the extremely hot weather)."
"No leh," he replied. Hmm... It seems like they are so used to them and the way they speak.
Went looking for LCD monitor and overheard the salesman talking to another Chinese lady. "The difference between this and that is that this has got 'la3-ba1' and that doesn't has." I was also stunned for awhile and realised that the la3-ba1 that he was referring to was speakers. It is amazing that Singaporeans adapts so quickly to changes. But honestly, I was shocked to experience the 1st incident.
Note: liu4-ji2 is a hanyu pinyin term. meaning the 4th sound of liu & 2nd sound of ji.
Went to Marina Square and gosh, hard to find even a parking lot man. Wanted to catch a movie but all the tix were selling out fast. I was there at 3pm and tickets for Da Vinci and X-men were selling fast all the way to those 9pm ones. Unbelievable!!! Went shopping and then home instead.
Guess it's time for Desperate housewives. I'm exhausted too. Been up since six this morning.
Looking forward to meeting the gals tomorrow!
