Happy day - work :)
Today was quite a pretty good day. Had a major "breakthrough" in work area. haha... A simple task that can be done easily in previous jobs has to face lotsa constraints in the company that I work in. Damn. But finally it has been pushed through and it feels damn good. And it's kinda funny that I am the 2nd lowest rank in the meeting. Most are managers, Assistant Directors and even a Director. heehee. Feels good to report back to my Assistant Director that this can be done. And went through the final round of Service Contracts that I am handling and things passed through smoothly. My aim is to perform consistently well this year. And to reach the target that I set out. I realised in this company, relationships and knowing when to escalate is the key to success. This is the basis of working life. but here, everyone can bloody freaking play tai-chi cos company too big and too many dept. This simply jeopardise the things that I set out to do. Like my big boss mentioned to me that I need to voice out more. I need to improve on my reporting skills. Not apt in reporting to such high management, I guess. I am still learning and I aim to grasp it well this year. Sometimes the things that I do are supporting our backend operations. It is difficult to be seen or measured. So it seems kinda trivial to bring up and talk to boss about it. I do admire my big boss's vision. More and more, I start to believe in what he says about everything has to come from the ground. It cannot all come from my AD but for someone who is used to working with a lean team and able to manage all, it is really difficult for him to let go just like that. Now that my big boss is promoted to Vice President, next should be promoting Gary to Director. And with that, I believe he will be too swarmed with technical and operation issues to "chap" so much. Good and bad, good in the sense that Gary understands what and how we do things. Can sense he's putting on a "Director" cap now. Good for him too. :) I need to seriously sit down and think of all the things on how to "score points" in this crucial year. Now that everything is settled down, things that needs to buy have been purchased. Things are a different ball game. I am fortunate to get good ratings for last year. Must perform well consistently if want to score 4. But shan't get upset if get 3 cos that will be the norm. Key point to follow-up before I forget: Monitoring supervisors' performance in Maximo. Must also remember to write down handle service contracts (thou not my job at that point in time but I handled them as well as some colleague not willing to do it.) And must look into following up with closure and conclusion. Look into ways of improving on how we do things. IMPROVE. Sorry to blog so much abt work. but just feel like it and must do it so that can come back and re-charge when I need to re-motivate myself. Cheers and have a great weekend!
