Mind matters

I was reading an article this morning that said that all that stuff about needing to find a job that you love is overstated. Research shows that one's level of optimism and quality of relationships impact our happiness more than our job does.

Many of us think of our careers in term of happiness. That is, we look for work that makes us happy. She quoted from Dr Martin Seligman, "Positive psycology is not only about maximising personal happiness, but also about embracing civic engagement and spritual connectedness, hope and charity."

We need to find a job that meets those four basic standards for a decent job.

The traits of work that makes someone happy:
1) Stretches a person without defeating him
2) Provides clear goals
3) Provides unambiguous feedback and
4) Provides a sense of control

For me, I totally agree that the above 4 traits are really important and it's somehow tied to your boss. Besides that, work environment is also important. colleagues, work facilities, etc all plays a part too.
